ABOUT ME

I've always loved music, especially the piano, and from an early age I was surrounded by a family that loved to sing and play together. While my formal piano teacher was amazing, when I became a teacher myself I wanted to find a FUN way to teach music fundamentals and theory. That's part of the reason why I value music and play with my own children and students today. Play is natural, intrinsically motivating, and of course, fun! What I love best about play, is that it's also one of the best ways for children to learn. The Let's Play Music program is amazing for many reasons, but one of the top reasons in my book is the emphasis on learning through play. Come join me and we will play, learn, and have fun together in an amazing way.

LET'S PLAY MUSIC CLASSES

Welcome to the exciting world of Let's Play Music! where your child will learn advanced musical skills using age-appropriate methods! Music educators have long taught that the young child learns best through play, experience and discovery. Let's Play Music uses play as the medium through which difficult concepts and skills are learned. Children learn most effectively when they are playing! If you were to peek in on a Let’s Play Music class, you would see jumping, singing, skipping, storytelling, and laughing! Music educators have long taught that the young child learns best through play, experience and discovery. As musical concepts and skills are presented in a playful, joyful setting, children absorb knowledge and ability.

LET'S PLAY MUSIC PRESO

Presto is for the beginning pianist, whether they have had a year or so of piano lessons or no piano lessons at all. Presto teaches so much more than piano! We teach COMPLETE musicianship: vocal training, ear training, sight reading, music theory, rhythm, music history, proper piano technique, and we do it in a fun, snappy style that tweens love! Most likely, those students who already have had a year or so of piano haven't studied all areas of music. In fact, they most likely have only dabbled a little in rhythm, have some note reading skills, and developed some finger strength. We include an optional "challenge" section written into the Presto curriculum to satisfy the appetite of hard working students and that of students who already have finger dexterity built from previous piano lessons.

LET'S PLAY MUSIC BRIDGE CLASSES

Why is Bridge so important?
Let's Play Music students have an amazing foundation, but much that has been gained may be minimized or lost without the proper teacher who understands where they are in their studies.   Their next teacher should know how to communicate with them and apply this musical foundation and knowledge.  This bridge course will help them build on their excellent foundation and bridge the private piano gap so they can transition smoothly into private piano lessons or any other music lessons they might be interested in!  This additional year of study will be the perfect start for your student's continued progression in piano.

The Curriculum
The Let's Play Music Bridge curriculum has been carefully crafted to solidify newly introduced concepts and skills learned in the 3rd Year of Let's Play Music, such as numerical counting up to sixteenth notes, scales and chords in varying keys, composer and classical music knowledge, composition skills, accompaniment styles, key signatures, time signatures, note names and staff placement, and sight reading just to name a few. All of these concepts will be reviewed and expanded on throughout this important year of musical transition. They will be taught about the new yellow chord (the V7 chord) along with many other important concepts, skills, symbols and labels that will help ensure that their abilities don't get 'lost in translation' as they progress.  Both individual instruction and group instruction are important in their progression. Classes will be held in small groups of 4-6 students and will include individual tutoring time as necessary.  The curriculum includes INDIVIDUAL and GROUP instruction and students will have much of their repertoire customized so they can progress to a large degree at their own pace throughout the school year.

The Let's Play Music Bridge Curriculum includes 30 lessons plus a parent orientation and end-of-year recital.

"This is our first year doing Let's Play Music and we LOVE it! My 2 year old is picking up from my 4 year old what he's learning in class and they both run around the house singing the Do-Re-Mi lyrics 😍 My son thinks it's just a class for fun, but I love how much he is learning and absorbing. I think it's money well spent and totally recommend it."
